What is ilmarmusic.com?
This is a website of classical piano music. Currently, it is all composed and recorded by Ilmar. You can join to get full access to all the music, and support Ilmar in making more music.
What audio formats are available?
Members can download audio in MP3, AAC, and FLAC formats. You can change your preferred format by visiting the "My Profile" link when logged in. MP3 is more widely supported as a playback format, but lower quality. FLAC is the best quality, but less widely supported and produces rather bigger files. The default is AAC, which is a standard format for iTunes, iPods etc. For maximum iTunes compatibility the AAC files are created in iTunes and therefore wrapped up as .m4a files.
I just want a single track – can I buy one without joining?
No, you must become a friend to see any of the restricted content. This is tremendous value as for only £9.99 – less than the price of a single album – you have access to all the music currently on the site plus all the music I add during the year of your subscription.
Why do I need a PayPal account to become a member?
Because your membership is an ongoing subscription, you need to have a PayPal account in order to manage it properly. These are free, and very easy to set up.
What happens when my year is up?
Your subscription will automatically renew each year until you cancel.
How do I cancel?
I would rather you didn't, but if you feel you don't want to remain a friend, you can cancel by following this link. Your subscription will continue until the year expires. During this time, you will still have access to everything on this site.
Can I keep the files I have downloaded if I cancel?
Yes, you can keep everything you have downloaded during your subscription period. It's yours to keep or delete as you choose.
What if you add more music after I've subscribed?
You can download all the music as soon as it's available.
Can I download your files multiple times?
Yes, you can download them as many times as you like. There is no limit on the number of times you can download any of my files.
And onto multiple computers?
Yes, you can load my files onto as many computers as you like. There are no digital rights management (DRM) restrictions on any of my files, so you can transfer them between your devices, burn them onto disc.
And give them to my friends?
No, please don't, I am an independent musician, not part of any record label or music union, and selling subscriptions to Ilmar Music is how I make my living. By being part of Ilmar Music you are supporting me to make music.
If you think your friends will like my music, why not give them a gift subscription, or introduce them to Ilmar Music so they can decide whether to become a friend for themselves?

I am a classically trained pianist and composer working from my home, you can read more about me on the about page. This website is whole owned and operated by me.
What are your influences?
I think different people hear the same music in different ways, I'm always interested in how you hear it, rather than guiding you too much in how it should be heard.
Are these all your own compositions?
Currently, yes, everything on Ilmar Music has been written by me. If there is enough demand, I might start recording other classical music.
Would you record my composition?

Am I allowed to perform your music in public?
Please do get in touch if you want to perform any of my music in public. If you're a charity, in education or some other non-profit then you can usually expect to be able to go ahead. You will need to credit me, and provide a link to this site on any concert programme you are producing.
If you wish to perform my music as part of a commercial performance, please contact me so we can work out a licensing arrangement.

Do you sell CDs or print copies of your sheet music?
At the moment, no. Making my music available as download files by subscription frees me from having to create, pack, and post physical media, and gives me more time to spend making music. If there is enough demand, I may be able to offer this in future.
Would you host my recordings?
Sorry, no. Working out who was due what proportion of the subscription fees would be far too much hassle!
